Komal Shetye
Komal S. Shetye is a Research Engineer in the Information Trust Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is currently involved with power system transient stability validation efforts as part of the Illinois Center for a Smarter Electric Grid (ICSEG) efforts, funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. She is also currently working on an EPRI project on the assessment of the impact of geomagnetic disturbances (GMDs) and geomagnetically induced currents (GICs) on the bulk power grid. Previously, as a graduate research assistant at Illinois, she worked on other projects for the Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC) and TCIPG. She has previously held industry internships at corporations including Crompton Greaves Ltd., Honeywell Automation India Ltd., and Schneider Electric. She holds a B.Tech. in EE from the University of Mumbai (2009) and earned an MSEE (Power Systems) from the University of Illinois (2011) under the guidance of Prof. Thomas J. Overbye. She is a member of the IEEE and the IEEE Power and Energy Society.
